Day 25: C.S.A.: The Confederate States of America [2004]

A brief history of the Confederate States of America from the hypothetical future in which the south won the American civil war. I browsed the rest of Willmott’s filmography. He seems to be a film genius.  Amazon has Ninth Street.  I’ll have to look around for the rest…

“Noone can play the white man like the white man.”

Day 22: The Crazies [2010]

I don’t usually care for remakes, but The Crazies got my juices flowing.  I  know I saw the original by Romero back in the eighties, and I think I may even have the VHS in the attic. I can’t remember a single thing from it, but the remake is deja vu city. It feels like an old fashioned proper horror movie.  Feels good, man.

Day 20: 1492: Conquest of Paradise [1992]

So I’ve been researching cameras. I really want a square format (6×6) 120 SLR.  I was originally looking for alternatives to the Hasselblad 500, as that’s a pretty expensive item, but it looks like the (good) alternatives aren’t that much cheaper, so…. should I spring for the Hassie?

The one I want is the 500C/M, that’s currently USD 325 on KEH for one with a waist level finder and the rapid winder crank.
An A12 back is 99 bucks.
Planar 80mm F/2.8: $286.
PME metering prism finder: 119.
Caps, lens hoods etc : 75.

Grand total: $904 + shipping + tax = ca $1200.

Ouch.

The film was pretty cheesy, btw.

Director: Ridley Scott
Permanent record:   Oh, I don’t know.
